How to make an impact and save money

What are organisations doing to make an impact with their internal communication? Where can you hear the latest case studies, network with peers and get some top tips to help your organisation’s comms efforts?

All this and much more is on the bill for the annual Internal Communication conference from CIPR Inside, which I’m delighted to be speaking at in October.

The theme is Making an impact, and I have news of a special discount for readers of my blog to save 20% off your ticket/s. Carry on reading to find out more.

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Inside annual internal communication conference is one of the biggest in our industry. It is being organised by the specialist group for internal communicators, and taking place on Tuesday 13 October 2015.

Your feedback has shaped the 2015 event

Feedback from the 2014 event has shaped the upcoming conference, which promises lots of vibrant lightning talks and case studies.

There’s also a new venue – the stunning at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London, and talks are limited to 30 mins per session, reflecting what members want and need.

I’m going to be speaking alongside comms pros from organisations such as GSK, Lockheed Martin, Clarks and Oxfam, among others, and am looking forward to the day.

Steven Murgatroyd, @steve_murg, CIPR Inside Vice Chair says: “Making an impact is a core theme for CIPR Inside and central to our strategy as the professional body for internal communicators and employee engagement experts.

“We know that good internal communication is good for business, and makes an impact on success.” Tweet this

“We’ve worked with award-winning professionals to bring our members and the IC community a great day packed full of practical case studies, advice and tips to take back to the office and help us all to make an impact in our work.”

What will you learn and take away from the day?

  1. Know what other organisations are doing and how they are making an impact with their internal communication
  2. Top tips, ideas and inspiration that you can put into action with their teams
  3. Practical advice and insights into channels and measurement helping internal communicators to add the value and demonstrate the impact of their work
  4. One of the best things about attending the internal comms conference is time away from the office to think, be inspired, meet other professionals, network, share ideas and learn something new.

Sounds good to me!

CIPR inside 2014 Steven continues: “We’re an active committee and our members attend lots of events and know what works and what doesn’t. So we are working with carefully selected conference partners, sponsors and speakers to create a really inspiring and fulfilling day.

“Each case study will demonstrate best practice, show where they overcame any challenges and show how they measured their success. With two open discussion sessions where the audience will get involved, it’s set to be a thought-provoking, inclusive and insightful day.”

Full details of speakers will be available through ciprinside.co.uk and shared through CIPR Inside’s social media channels.

You can follow the conversations about the conference on Twitter @CIPRInside and #makinganimpact.

I’ll share information with you when the conference gets closer, but recommend adding it to your diaries now and grabbing the opportunity to invest in your career.

Here’s the small print
Thank you to CIPR Inside for offering this deal for All Things IC’s readers. I asked if it would be possible because this conference is one of the highlights of the various events I attend each year. I wanted to encourage as many comms pros as possible to come along, and am delighted to be able to offer you 20% off.

Here’s the small print… The discount is valid on all the generic tickets. So this means anyone who is not a CIPR member, a member of another association like IoIC or a student, will benefit from it.

CIPR members still get the best price, as recognition for their membership commitment, but if you’re not a member, you still get to save too. I hope this helps encourage people who haven’t attended before to check it out for yourself.
Book your tickets here – and use the code allthingsIC15.

  1. Tanya Horan says:

I work in internal communications in higher education (staff and students) – do you know if there will be any education related speakers at this event?
    Kind regards
    Tanya

  2. Katie says:

Hi Tanya, I work with CIPR Inside and Rachel passed your comment to me to respond. There aren’t any speakers from education this year, but we do often have comms pros from academic institutes attend.

The list of organisations speaking is: All Things IC, Clarks, GSK, Laughology, Lockheed Martin, PR Academy, Tata Steel, Wheatley Group. And you may well find their content and experiences useful – remote and diverse workforces, team structures, channels and measurement… We’ll be sharing more about the speakers very soon – keep an eye on ciprinside.co.uk

Did you have a particular challenge that you were looking for advice on? I know universities face a distinct set of challenges with the mix of academic and administrative staff, and students – so many diverse needs to cater for. If there’s anything we can help with please let us know. You can email me for CIPR Inside on ciprinside@gmail.com Many thanks, Katie
