Digital Communications Manager, Avon
Location: Chiswick, London
You will ultimately be responsible for Avon’s corporate external digital presence, including the website and corporate social media.
You will be responsible for growing Avon’s corporate online presence across digital platforms, and developing and delivering the digital and social media element of Avon’s broader corporate affairs strategy.
You will create and implement a strategically aligned strategy and plan to support Avon’s business objectives as part of a broader strategy to drive engagement with and awareness of Avon and develop thought leadership on key issues.
You will play a pivotal role in helping to maximise the reach and impact of Avon’s external engagement programme globally, with a particular focus on senior executive profiles, brand initiatives, Avon’s employer value proposition (EVP) and CSR programmes.
Through the content and channels it manages, you will be accountable for driving Avon’s reputation, increasing both reach with new and existing audiences and your engagement with our narrative.
- Develop and execute external digital communications strategy and plan
You will be a vital member of the corporate communications team. You will work closely with business partners and partners across the communications and corporate affairs team, and create and implement a strategically aligned highly compelling digital content calendar.
Develop a plan focussing on key online channels, specifically the Avon corporate website and social media channels. You will develop and lead global campaigns and programs to support Avon’s business objectives as part of a broader strategy to drive engagement with and awareness of Avon. Determines social media platform approach and ensures implementation. Is an Avon brand ambassador, ensures that our brand is consistently and effectively used across all channels and audience groups. Is ultimately responsibility for consistent application of visual brand and tone of voice on Avon.com.
- Content development
Deliver high quality content that drives engagement with the Avon company and brand, including causes we support and issues we champion. Create on-brand and high quality written, visual content and/or moving image content for use on social media channels and corporate website. Work with third party agencies in addition to developing content in-house. Understand and translates the Avon narrative and thought leadership platforms into effective digital communications.
- Corporate social media management
Ownership of corporate social media channels. Takes overall responsibility for delivering the Avon narrative in the most impactful way through these channels and ensure Avon becomes a leader in this rapidly evolving field. Develop social media channel strategy for Avon corporate and for select senior executives. Proactively identify creative opportunities to grow social media presence. Be an integral part of a wider corporate affairs programme on and off-line.
- Prioritises which new social media technologies and developments to prioritise (and which to leave). Keeps abreast of new opportunities and technologies and assesses and reviews strategy accordingly.
Lead programs and campaigns in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting senior executives at Avon. Provide critical social media support to company leaders and works across teams, departments and platforms to achieve business goals.
- Corporate website management
Be responsible for Avon’s corporate website. Ensure all information on the website is engaging, on-brand and on-message, and correct at all times. Update/amend using the CMS. Owns, maintains and executes the plan to ensure that content is always relevant and up-to-date across corporate pages. Instrumental in increasing the corporate news and information flow through Avoncompany.com. Works closely with the broader communications team to ensure a steady newsflow of engaging content to share Avon’s story with our stakeholders. Routinely publishes new content to corporate website. Manages Avoncompany.com on a day-to-day basis.
- Reporting, analysis and continual improvement
Report on web and social media performance and produce reports that allow us to measure the effectiveness of our online communications. Adapt and develop strategy around optimisation accordingly. Apply digital insights to set targets for and constantly improve content and campaigns.
- Lead and develop global community
Establish and maintain a network of peers and facilitate sharing and understanding of internal and external best practice. Develop toolkits and content for global roll-out. Co-creation and capacity for local market adaptation and implementation are crucial. Co-create tools and content with markets and leverage local market content for corporate channels.
- Technical skills/experience
- At least 6 years’ relevant experience and a strong track record in digital marketing, experienced working in a fast-paced, high-volume social, marketing, communications, and/or PR environment, ideally for a large corporation or agency
- Significant experience in creation of content strategy and executional calendars for global, corporate activity
- First class writing, editing and visual storytelling skills for digital
- Proven experience of creating the full range of website content including landing pages, blogs, thought leadership and video.
- Previous experience in: Google Analytics, organic and paid elements of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, tumblr, Snapchat, Periscope and YouTube, MS Office Suite, Photoshop, share point, video editing. Understanding of content optimisation and SEO tools for auditing rankings and research
