Director of Media, Action for Children
Location: Holborn, London
Contract: FT.35 hours per week.

Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 Per annum inclusive of Inner London Weighting

We have an ambition of a UK where any child who needs help, gets help. We are looking for a Director of Media to help us achieve our ambition.
How you’ll make a difference:
By developing and implementing an integrated Media and PR strategy to build our profile
By ensuring our key priorities receive proactive and reactive news coverage across all mainstream and social media. You will do this by using our strong evidence and measurement capabilities to demonstrate the impact of our work. Ensuring that we are always telling the stories of the children we help
By developing an integrated approach to news, PR, social media and celebrities to showcase our work and raise the issues that affect children, young people and their families in the UK
By working with regional Media Officers to support the strategies of our 5 Regional Children’s Services Directors across the UK
By working in conjunction with the Director of Fundraising, Director of Communications and the Director of Policy, you will create and deliver integrated public engagement campaigns that will amplify fundraising and campaigning to build sustained support for the charity
By cultivating strong relationships with the media to ensure they we are their trusted source of information on the issues and needs of children across the UK.
By representing externally at a senior level, actively networking to develop key relationships and networks in the media and PR fields
By anticipating, preparing for and implementing responses to crisis situations, or other circumstances where there is risk to Action for Children’s reputation, the wellbeing of staff or our services for children
By building, coaching and inspiring a team of local and nationally based staff to deliver excellence in Media & PR
By harnessing talent and making our charity a place where people can build their careers in Media, actively managing performance whilst supporting professional and personal development
What you’ll need:
You will have extensive experience of working within media and PR. You will have worked in a specialist media function or have an editorial background
You will have experience of developing, implementing and executing media strategies
You will have a track record of demonstrable success in media work, with proven ability to generate coverage on a range of issues across digital media, broadcast, and print
You will be an excellent communicator both written and verbally at a level appropriate for high level external representation; you will have the ability to tailor communications to different audiences
You will be highly commercial with the ability to understand every facet of the organisation
You will be a proven leader who thrives on building a successful team
You will have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departmental boundaries to achieve shared organisational goals
