Head of Communications, EMEA, Instagram
Location: London

Instagram is seeking an experienced communications professional to lead the company’s communication efforts in EMEA and be part of the EMEA leadership team.

The successful candidate will be highly strategic and focused on leading a team that develops and delivers communications campaigns that reach multiple audiences to support business goals. They will have experience of running an international team and advising senior leads within the business.

They will be an excellent writer with strong experience in consumer, corporate and monetization communications, stakeholder engagement and managing issues.

Highly motivated and versatile, this person should have a deep understanding of the EMEA media landscape, social and digital communications, and be capable of managing proactive and reactive communications from strategy to execution.

This person will manage a team of four, which may increase during the cover period. This is a temporary full-time position based in our London office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the EMEA team, including managing four people, two based in other offices
  • Develop and oversee the execution of creative communications strategies and initiatives to support Instagram’s operations in the EMEA
  • Drive positive sentiment across media and social platforms that reach audiences important to Instagram
  • Oversee day-to-day execution for global public relations programs, both corporate, advertising trade consumer and product oriented
  • Advise and brief executive spokespeople
  • Educate users, press and influencers about Instagram products and initiatives
  • Handle corporate issues that originate in EMEA
  • Manage agency support within EMEA
  • Play a strategic role and consult regularly with cross-functional teams across the company, many of whom are in California
  • Build cross-functional relationships between departments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelors degree (post-graduate or professional degrees preferred) or equivalent
  • Significant professional experience
  • Experience working across multiple countries (additional experience in the region a plus)
  • Experience working with corporate, tech, lifestyle and business/marketing
  • media and influencers and developing social campaigns to achieve communications goals
  • Team management skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong budgeting, project management and decision-making skills
  • Experience in managing PR agencies and contractors
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Deep knowledge of concepts and technologies for online advertising, search marketing and social networking
  • Self-starter who is able to hit the ground running and take charge of the position
  • Deep understanding and passion for Instagram and Facebook is essential.
