Head of Stakeholder and Internal Engagement, British Horseracing Authority
Closing date: 22 January 2018.
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for British horseracing. We regulate, organise and represent British horseracing, Great Britain’s second most attended sport and a global industry employing more than 85,000 people directly and indirectly.
The BHA are looking for a Head of Stakeholder and Internal Engagement to help us deliver our vision for a brighter future for racing. The BHA is leading a significant programme of change to grow the sport, attract more fans and build on the great work we do to look after our horses, our jockeys and the teams who support their exceptional performance.
It’s vital for us to engage our staff and all the people in the racing industry – our stakeholders – to harness their passion for the sport. Winning a race needs a great connection between horse and rider. Our sport thrives when we all collaborate from the stable-yard to the racecourse. So we’re looking for real expertise in communicating and delivering change across a complex network, ideally in sport. A background in racing is not essential.
You’ll share racing’s values – respecting our horses and each other – playing fair, being winners, and champion our commitment to becoming a more diverse and inclusive sport. You’ll have good digital skills, know how to pull off a great engagement event, and have the writing and presentational ability to make sense of complicated change. You’ll have excellent planning and organisational skills, the ability to work with senior figures in the sport and to lead a vibrant and talented team.
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity, reporting to the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs. You will be responsible for internal communications with the BHA’s 200+ staff and for leading communication with the thousands of people who own, train, ride and look after our horses and make race-days the most exciting events in sport.
We are fast developing the BHA and our sport so we expect this role to change as our business does. So please view this brief as guidance on our current needs and expect to be part of the evolution of the role if you are successful.
We welcome enquiries from everyone and put great value on building diversity at the BHA.
