The RNLI is going through a time of considerable growth and change. We are refocusing how we think about lifesaving while at the same time providing better support to our lifesavers.
As an Internal Communications team our goal is to increase the understanding, engagement and acceptance of these changes with our staff and volunteers.
We are looking for an experienced, creative and driven individual with significant internal communications experience, ideally within the third sector or emergencies services, to help us on this journey.
You must have considerable change communications experience and be comfortable providing expertise and tactical support across a number of varied projects and programmes. Working closely with our Change team, you will act as the Internal Communications team lead across these activities to ensure our communications are audience-focussed, meaningful and effective.
We need someone with strong strategic planning skills, who can oversee the different activities within the team and pull this together into one, audience-based communications calendar.
This means you will have experience and understanding of what is required to communicate effectively across a complex organisation. You should have an ability to cut through detail and get to what really matters to your audiences. Proactive and diligent, you must be comfortable driving your own work and have a reputation for delivering. You must be a confident strategic advisor, but have a proven track record of working across all stages – from early planning and shaping, to delivery and measurement. With this, you must have proven ability to manage your own time and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent people skills and an understanding of volunteers are key. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders at all levels to influence, support and coach. And as a supportive, flexible team player you must also be prepared to listen to and act on feedback, as well as show resilience in a changing environment.
