Salary: £31,707 to £39,986 plus £3,216 location allowance. You will receive a total of £34,923 rising in increments to £43,202 (salary plus location allowance included). You will have generous holiday allocation and an excellent pension.

Every day, we strive to keep over eight million residents safe by fighting crimes that range from murder to major terrorist incidents. No surprise that our press office is one of the busiest in the world. And you’ll be at the heart of it as our Media & Communications Manager.

You’ll be joining a highly skilled team that’s a trailblazer in its field. Together, you’ll tell the Met story: what we’re doing to keep communities safe; how people can protect themselves; and how we’re fighting crime. This involves planning and implementing clear two-way communications via print, digital and face-to-face channels.

It’s an exciting opportunity to create the very best content, both for proactive and reactive delivery through our own and other channels. Breaking issues could emerge at any moment – which may mean working outside normal office hours. With drive and high standards, you’ll be determined to excel. You’ll thrive on applying insight, ideas and best practice to bring continual improvement.

Degree-educated (or with a professional Communications qualification), you’ll have solid experience in a Communications team. With this background, you’ll have honed your news sense and developed excellent writing and editing skills. We’re also looking for an organised approach and project management skills. With these talents, you’ll have handled media and communications for a large organisation before.
