Learn how to be a Comms Consultant

Today I’m proud to announce the launch of two brand new All Things IC Masterclasses focused on helping you be a Comms Consultant.

If you’ve ever thought about going solo or are already, I have two additional ways to support you.

The Masterclasses are: How to be a Comms Consultant: Exploration and How to be a Comms Consultant: Momentum and will be running in October 2018.

3 July update: Both Masterclasses have now sold out. If you missed getting a ticket, I’ve just announced a brand new date of 8 November for the Exploration Masterclass please add your name to the waiting list for Momentum as I will set another date.

How to be a Comms Consultant

In January I published a series of articles revealing how I created All Things IC consultancy five years ago. It led to lots of conversations with clients and people in my network.

This year I’ve been supporting numerous practitioners 1-2-1 via VIP Days and phone consultations to help them analyse working as a Consultant.

It’s not the right path for everyone, but what’s been missing is an opportunity to explore the idea while you are in-house, or to reflect back once you’ve started working in this way to help you gain momentum.

I’ve been researching and speaking with clients and my peers to discover what that gap is and how to solve your problems. Thank you to everyone who has answered my queries and/or participated in my recent poll on Twitter:

Today I’m delighted to reveal the two new Masterclasses are now live and open for bookings.

I shared the news with my closed alumni group last night on LinkedIn and two places have gone already for Exploration, so do be speedy if you’d like to benefit from this course.

Mastermind

I’ll be hosting a Mastermind session as part of each course. This means everyone gets the opportunity to sit in the hot seat to reveal their challenges and get advice from their peers. You don’t need to do a lot of preparation, just share your thinking, e.g. what stage you are at in exploring the idea of being a consultant (Exploration) or how your business is going (Momentum), and be willing to offer advice for others when it’s their turn.

I’ve participated in a number of Masterminds, not least at the Youpreneur Summit last year, which I’m attending again in November.

I’ve been running them with All Things IC’s clients and am now introducing them as part of these Masterclasses to ensure you get tailored advice and guidance to boost your ideas and confidence.

Your investment
As an introductory offer, places are £399 +VAT per course for this first round in October 2018. There are only five spaces on each course to enable us to have a day completely focused on helping you succeed. Please note discount codes cannot be used with this offer.

It is possible to split the payment in two, please contact my Executive Assistant Louise if you wish to do so.

Save your place today to be part of this first group.

How to be a Comms Consultant – Exploration

Would you like to explore the idea of being a Communication Consultant?

If so, this brand new Masterclass on Wednesday 3 October 2018 or Thursday 8 November is for you. It will be led by Comms Consultant Rachel Miller and provide you with the tools and information you need to help you make decisions.

The Masterclass will be held in the Potting Shed room (pictured) at WallaceSpace in Covent Garden, London, from 9am-4.30pm.

Who is it suitable for?
The Masterclass has been designed for IC pros working in-house who are looking for a confidential space to learn, ask questions and air their challenges and ideas.

It’s what I wish had been available when I was plotting my move from in-house to consultancy five years ago. I’ve created this Masterclass by conducting research in my network to ensure it covers all the relevant topics.

This Masterclass is a confidential space, which means I will not be sharing photographs of the group online as I usually do, just in case your boss doesn’t know your career ambitions!

If you are already working as a Comms Consultant, the Momentum Masterclass is the right one for you.

What can I expect?
The group size is kept deliberately small, with a maximum of five attendees, to ensure everyone has ample opportunity to get the answers to their problems and time to ask questions.

Topics we will discuss on the day include:

  • Analysing your skills and niche
  • How to choose the right company format
  • How to set up a company
  • How to make sense of HMRC
  • Choosing an accountant
  • How to set your prices
  • Insurance
  • Writing a business plan
  • The resources you need
  • How to find work including contracts, interim and retainers
  • How to communicate your offering
  • How to use social media and create a website
  • Tools and templates e.g. invoices.

How to be a Comms Consultant – Momentum

Are you working as a Comms Consultant? Would you like the opportunity to review the way you work, meet peers and get advice?

If so, this brand new Masterclass on Thursday 11 October 2018 is for you. It will be led by Comms Consultant Rachel Miller and provide you with the tools and information you need to help you make decisions.

Being a Momentum Masterclass means we will be drawing out the work you’ve done to date and building on it.

If you are already working as a Comms Consultant, this is the right Masterclass for you. If you are thinking of becoming a Consultant, the Exploration Masterclass will be better suited to you.

The Masterclass will be held in the Potting Shed room at WallaceSpace in Covent Garden, London (pictured).
