Taking the measure of internal comms principles

What’s your view on internal comms measurement? What works? What doesn’t? How do you approach it?

A few months back I wrote about proposed principles that were drafted as part of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Inside half day measurement summit, where attendees discussed the pros and cons of the different methods of measuring internal communication.

Since that event, I have joined the CIPR Inside committee and am looking forward to working with them to help shape the future of internal comms. An important next step in the draft principles is to gather the thoughts and feedback of the wider internal comms community ahead of the CIPR Internal Comms conference on 7 November.

I’m going to be speaking at the conference about how social media is changing internal communication, and from conversations I’ve had this week, I can share with you there’s going to be lots of useful content for IC pros and a cracking line up of speakers. If you’ve not looked into the conference, do check it out, and I hope to meet you there.

Finalising the principles
The experts who spoke at the measurement summit in the summer will be re-convening in October to discuss the comments and finalise the measurement principles before announcing them at November’s conference.
