Hi, I’m Rachel and I’m committed to helping internal communicators thrive in their roles.
Why? Because I understand the challenges and pressures you face.
I’ve seen first-hand how internal communication transforms organisations and employees. As a Chartered PR Practitioner, I take my professional development seriously.
I have the pleasure of working alongside a team of Communication Consultants and we work ethically and sensitively. You’ll feel the difference and your company will too.
Let's work together >
I began my career as a Journalist in 1999 and loved encouraging people to tell their stories. I was endlessly curious about the world and translated this into articles.
Having worked my way up on the news desk, I wanted a fresh challenge and to improve my skills. Through the power of search engines, I stumbled across the world of internal communication in 2003. I haven’t looked back!
I worked in-house for a decade. I specialised in internal communication, but have external communication experience too.
Every role helped me understand the complexities of organisations, people and processes. My in-house career included roles at Visa, Novartis, Visteon, London Overground and Tube Lines.
I also spent six months working agency-side overseeing internal communication accounts for L’Oréal, GSK and Sky.
These positions provided me with experience of communicating globally, with unionised workforces, in regulated environments, setting up functions, working at Board level, communicating with frontline workers and much more.
I then gained a post graduate diploma in Internal Communication Management from Kingston University, London.
I co-founded The IC Crowd community @TheICCrowd in 2011 alongside my friends Jenni Field and Dana Leeson, which we ran until December 2021.
In 2013 I launched my business, All Things IC, while on maternity leave with my daughter. Having written my blog since 2009, I’d discovered the global network of Comms professionals and wanted to create a way to support and advise more communicators.
I’m a regular keynote speaker and awards judge and have contributed to a number of best-selling books.
I’ve also published 11 books’ worth of free content across 1800+ blog posts. That’s a million words on all things internal communication related, with lots more to come!
My own book, Internal Communication Strategy: design, develop and transform your organizational communication is available to pre-order now. It will be published in April 2024.
If you have a request for expert commentary or would like to discuss publishing opportunities or speaking opportunities, please get in touch.

My book, Internal Communication Strategy: design, develop and transform your organisational communication is being published by Kogan Page in April 2024.
“Drawing on the author’s 20 years of experience, and featuring case studies from the industry, this book covers not only how to develop and write an internal communication strategy, but also how to practically implement it throughout your organization to create a shared understanding and vision. With workplaces constantly evolving, this book gives you a solid framework to return to when you need to refresh your strategy, providing actionable guidance and best-practice insights throughout” – Kogan Page.
