All Things IC Inner Circle is open for applications

Are you an internal communicator in a visible or challenging role?

Would you like the opportunity to work alongside a small group of in-house internal communicators to share ideas and learn together?

Applications are now open for our popular All Things IC Inner Circle cohorts.

What does the Inner Circle mean?

Rachel launched the Inner Circle in 2020 and we have run cohorts over the past few years. There are six places in each group and we meet every month via Teams for a group Mastermind, facilitated by an All Things IC Consultant. Each member of the Inner Circle is further supported with 1-2-1 mentoring sessions throughout the programme and access to a dedicated online forum.

All Things IC Communication Consultant Caroline Cubbon-King is here to share more about the All Things Inner Circle cohorts.

How joining our next All Things IC Inner Circle cohorts can support you

I frequently talk with in-house internal communicators who don’t have someone in their organisations to talk through challenges with or bounce ideas off.

Having worked in-house for over 20 years myself, I know how hard that can be, and it’s not always easy to those conversation with your manager or peers.

We now have two All Things IC Inner Circles, designed to support in-house communicators at different stages of their careers.

Rachel hosts one group for more established and experienced IC pros. I host our second group, designed for Senior IC Managers or IC Managers, who have less experience in leadership or are about to take up their first management role.

The type of people who would benefit from this group are those leading teams, trying to increase their influence with stakeholders and having to balance strategic thinking with hands on doing.

Emma Tobin is the Director of Internal Communication and Engagement at The AA and a previous All Things IC Inner Circle member.

“Being fairly new to a bigger role in a new organisation with all the challenges that brings, the support I had from All Things IC has been invaluable. The one-to-one mentoring gave me the opportunity to get great advice and really challenged my thinking. The group sessions were an opportunity to discuss issues we were all facing and learn from people in the same situation. A really great, valuable experience that I highly recommend.”

The All Things IC Inner Circle ethos is centred around nurturing. We want you to feel safe and looked after and know you can trust us and your fellow cohort members.

Everything we talk about is confidential. That’s the first principle we agree to at the start of our sessions.

We’re accountable to each other and all want everybody else to succeed. We also stay in touch between sessions via a private discussion forum, so you are never more than a message away from friendly advice and support.

Mark Dorey is the Assistant Director of Communications and Engagement (Community) at the University of Leeds and a former All Things IC Inner Circle member.

“I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I first joined the Inner Circle, but from the very first session my fears were allayed and I quickly felt at ease in the group. The format actively encourages vulnerability and I have hugely benefitted from hearing other perspectives and have drawn from the rich experience of a small but perfectly formed group of highly experienced communications practitioners working across a range of sectors. Rachel and the All Things IC team excellently facilitate the Mastermind sessions, offering their insights and wisdom when required as well as generously sharing relevant resources.”

The Inner Circle groups combine two-hour virtual Masterminds (via Teams) with 1-2-1 sessions with me or Rachel, depending on which group you join. In-between sessions, we use a private discussion forum so you can connect with the other people in your Inner Circle cohort.

What are my options if the All Things IC Inner Circle isn’t for me?

We realise that our Inner Circle isn’t right for everyone, or it might not be the right time now.

If you want to learn from peers, we’ve recently launched remote mastermind sessions. You will spend two hours with a small group, supported by an All Things IC Consultant. Everybody will go into the hot seat to share a problem or challenge and get ideas and feedback from the rest of the group.

If you’re looking for 1-2-1 support, we offer mentoring partnerships which are ideal if you’re looking at your continuing professional development. We can also arrange one-off power hour calls to provide advice and guidance on a specific topic or to help solve a problem.

If you aren’t sure which support would suit you best, send us a message or email hello@allthingsic.com and I’ll arrange to speak with you,

Caroline.
