I have sore feet and a full heart this morning after spending last night in the company of 400 internal communicators.
The annual Institute of Internal Communication National Awards were held at The Brewery, London.
Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted, scooped an Award of Excellence or won their category.
I was part of the team of judges again this year and loved seeing the excellent work taking place inside organisations.
I know how hard internal communicators work and how visible your roles are. These awards are a way to honour your efforts and celebrate your successes.
Team Teal and I were all present and we enjoyed catching up with comms friends and clients in the room. I have no voice this morning, which is testament to all the conversations we had!
Thank you to everyone who stopped us to say hello. Thank you for all the kind comments about my upcoming book, which is available to pre-order now.
The evening was hosted by Awards Chair, Justine Stevenson and IoIC’s Chief Exec Jennifer Sproul. Thank you to Rebecca Nicholls and the IoIC team for looking after us so well.
Jen started off the evening’s proceedings saying: “Great internal communication is the backbone of organisations. It is a privilege to lead your Institute to shine a light on and celebrate the amazing work you all do. This evening is testament to the power of this profession, your hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Justine remarked on how presiding over the Awards makes her incredibly proud: “You all continue to wow me with your professionalism, adaptability and creativity. We continue to demonstrate how vital internal communications is within organisations and that’s something we should all be proud of.”
Class winners trophies were handed out, along with a #WeMatterAtWork Award and once again the Grand Prix Award winner was the pinnacle of the evening. This top trophy went to: British Airways x Ozwald Boateng for and by British Airways.
Justine ended the night with a special announcement – next year’s Awards will mark the IoIC’s 75th anniversary and the Awards Dinner will be held at the iconic Natural History Museum in London. So, hold the date for 26 September 2024 and be sure to enter the IoIC National Awards 2024 when they open in January.
Special mention must go to to Scottish Water, well done for winning five awards last night. I’ve invited the team to come and blog for All Things IC to share the stories behind their successes, which they’ve kindly agreed to do.
Well done to the individual winners, I’m thrilled that Millie Caston from British Transport Police (BTP) won best newcomer. I had the pleasure of meeting Millie when hosting a team day for the BTP team last year and I described her to her boss, May Holloway, as a star. It was wonderful to see you shining on stage last night Millie.
Official photos will be available via the IoIC website.
