Behaviour Change Workshop
January 31 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Learn how to apply behaviour change principles from the world’s first government institution dedicated to the application of behavioural sciences.
CIPR Local Public Sector Committee member Dominic Ridley-Moy, a Behaviour Change Specialist, will also speak at the event and Kerry Sheehan, a Director of Communications and Marketing in healthcare communications will facilite the event. We are delighted to announce our special guest speaker, Charlotte Bearn, the Head of Ventures at the UK Behavioural Insights Team (BI Ventures).
Behavioural insights, often referred to as nudges, can be used to make small, cost-effective changes to improve your communications, and ultimately public services. Outcomes can be improved by introducing a more realistic model of human behaviour, helping organisations to rethink how they can increase take up in services and encourage people to change their behaviours, but without instructing them to do it.
Work by the Behavioural Insights Team has shown:
- simple text messages can bring forward millions in overdue tax, or slash costs from missed NHS appointments.
- sending a letter to a disadvantaged school pupil from a current university student from a similar background led to a 34 per cent increase in accepted applications by disadvantaged students to top universities.
- new letters for drivers caught speeding led to a 20 per cent reduction in reoffending
- Whether you want to encourage residents to move to online channels, increase take-up of a service or pay their Council Tax promptly, these techniques can make a huge difference to your communications.
