I invited freelance social media strategist Joanna Ayre, who has been working on the smilelondon team for the past five years, to share what’s happening this year.

I spoke at last year’s event as part of a panel. I recommend attending if you want to hear firsthand what’s going on, get ideas, meet with fellow IC pros and meet vendors in person.

SMILE stands for Social Media Inside the Large Enterprise. This year’s event takes place on 18-19 November 2019 at etc venues, St Paul’s, 200 Aldersgate, in London.

Here’s a rundown of some of what you can expect and five reasons why you should attend.

1) Hear the latest updates from the major players in the world of digital workplaces

Murali Sitaram of Microsoft will be on stage to tell us how Microsoft is driving the development of personalised intranets and the digital workplace. This session will include fresh news on product developments in Yammer, SharePoint and Stream – Microsoft’s video management system.

Nestle’s Adoption & Change Specialist Meritxell Guinart Mola will be here to take us through how they connected 320,000 employees using Workplace by Facebook. Hear how she used a data-driven approach to make the platform relevant for users around the world.

David Bowman comes hot foot from Microsoft’s massive Ignite event in Orlando, Florida, to give us his views on what the changes in Sharepoint will mean for internal communicators and how it impacts the way your intranet will look and perform.


2) Get up close and personal with the expert table sessions
 

It’s not just the big tech updates you’ll hear at smilelondon. In between keynote speakers – attendees breakout into smaller groups to join our expert table sessions for the chance to get up close and personal to topics that matter to them. Choose three experts and pick their brains – find out what they are working on in the world of digital workplaces and internal comms.

We’ll hear real life examples from world leading organisations on how they are harnessing the power of the digital workplace for internal comms. At this year’s smilelondon, we’ll hear live on-stage case studies from NRMA, British Airways, Morleys Group, Amundi Asset Management, Imerys, Nestle and Interxion. 

4) Connect with hundreds of like-minded internal comms professionals
 

Join hundreds of fellow professionals in the room – plus hundreds more interacting online.  

There are plenty of coffee breaks plus a delicious bento box buffet at lunch – which gives lots of opportunities to meet like-minded internal communications professionals. You’ll also get the chance to meet the exhibitors: providers of technology platforms, experts from Microsoft, employee app providers, agencies and creative services.
