How to improve your communication skills

Would you like to learn about internal communication, improve your comms skills, meet with peers and pose all the questions you can’t ask at work?

I have a way you can do all this and much more.

My monthly All Things IC Masterclasses have just celebrated their first birthday, which means nearly 100 practitioners have invested a day in their career and learnt with All Things IC.

The idea of running Masterclasses spent three years in my head and has now been out in the wild for a year. It’s an honour to create a confidential environment for comms pros and welcome them to my day-long training courses.

Thank you to everyone who has attended, signed up for future ones or been in touch to enquire about booking.

Feedback shows they are working well and I love hearing how attendees are putting what they learnt into action and taking bold strides with their careers as a result of our time together.

I’d also like to thank Kane and the team at my excellent training venue, Wallacespace in Covent Garden, London, for their hospitality, super helpful staff and delicious food.

Improving communication skills is essential for practitioners and,we need to role model the right behaviour. However, as our roles are so visible, it’s often hard to know where to turn for advice and admit we need a helping hand. I created my Masterclasses to bridge this gap and provide a place where comms pros can have the conversations they can’t have elsewhere.

There’s no such thing as a daft question or story too embarrassing to share.

I’ve hosted Masterclasses on various topics including:

Over the past year I’ve also created and run some bespoke Masterclasses for All Things IC clients including ARM, the Guardian and O2 on various topics. Do contact me if you have a training request for me to consider.

Professional communicators from companies large and small have experienced an All Things IC Masterclass. It’s been a privilege to train practitioners from organisations such as the NHS, UN, Lego, John Lewis, Moat, Bettys & Taylors, London Zoo and many more.

The variety of organisations represented means you never know who you’ll end up sitting with and the stories you’ll hear.

As I operate a strict no-sharing rule, you can be sure what you share in the room will not leave those four walls. It will also not appear on my blog.

Feedback from delegates shows attending a Masterclass has boosted their confidence, given them fresh ideas and enabled them to solve problems they had been struggling with.

The intentions are set at the start of each Masterclass, which enables comms pros to learn and support each other. This allows sensitive topics to be aired and examined and creates a space where you can get advice from your peers and improve your communication skills at the same time.

Communicators have flown in from all over the globe including Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg and France to attend one of my courses. The vibrancy and honesty of the conversations have left my brain buzzing after each one.

Earn while you learn

If you’ve been thinking about signing up, do browse what’s on and consider investing in your career. Courses are £499+VAT and 20% discounts are available from CIPR and IoIC members plus nonprofit organisations.

Everyone who attends goes home with a brain full of ideas, notepad full of actions, goody bag full of carefully chosen treats and an attendance certificate.

There is also a closed LinkedIn alumni group which you will be invited to once your Masterclass has taken place.

If you’re an IoIC or CIPR member, you’ll not only save 20%, but earn while you learn as my Masterclasses net you six hours/10CPD points. See the Masterclasses website for the relevant discount codes.
