Are your channels are working effectively?
Do you want to learn how to get the most out your channels?
We’ve just launched a brand new face-to-face Masterclass to help you maximise your channels and turn your efforts into results.
It’s being taught by All Things IC Communication Consultant Dan Holden and Microsoft 365 Consultant Jon Miller, who also happens to be my husband.
You often need IC and IT to work in partnership with each other when it comes to making the most of your channels.
You’re invited to join Dan and Jon on Tuesday 4 July 2023 from 10am – 4pm at the All Things IC Hub in London, where they’ll blend theory and reality.
Not only will you have the opportunity to explore your channel conundrums, you’ll benefit from Jon’s Microsoft 365 expertise in the afternoon.
You’ll leave with the confidence and knowledge of how to apply frameworks and best practice to your daily approach to channels.
It’s an ideal Masterclass for anyone working within internal communication, whether you’re starting out or more experienced and want the space to refresh your channels knowledge.
I caught up with Dan to find out what attendees can expect from our newest Monthly Masterclass.

I’ll hand you over to Dan,
To start us off Dan, who is our Internal Comms Channels Masterclass for?
One thing I love about this Masterclass is that we’ve designed it with all internal communicators in mind.
For those who are earlier on in their internal comms career, the Masterclass provides a strong foundation of how to approach and manage internal channels, covering some theory, frameworks and the use of content for each.
Experienced communicators will find the Masterclass is an opportunity to step back and evaluate how effectively their channels are working for them. We know that talking with peers is also invaluable as hearing how other communicators are using their channels can spark a lightbulb moment.
Do attendees need to be using Microsoft 365 for their internal communications?
No. The Masterclass has been designed for any in-house internal communication channels mix, whether you have one channel or 10.
It doesn’t matter if you’re using intranets, employee apps, emails, all staff events or printed publications, everything we share during the day will be relevant for you.
So Dan, what do you cover during the Masterclass?
Where to start! There is a balance of theory, some of the latest trends and insights and in the afternoon, we’ll break out into groups to dive into more specific channel challenges.
Jon Miller will be on hand to help those working with Office 365 products and I’ll be there to support those using other platforms.
The key topics covered throughout the day include:
- The role of channels such as digital vs. print and one-way vs. two-way
- Creating a channels matrix
- Channels working for your audiences
- Effective content planning and repurposing
- Channels conundrum break outs
- Measurement and evaluation
- Action planning,
There are plenty of resources you’ll leave with, including practical tools you can go and use straight away.
Is there a particular learning style the Masterclass is best suited for?
All our Masterclasses are mindful of the different ways we all learn. There is a mix of reflection, handouts to read and resources to listen to later. Attendees can share, but no one is put on the spot and if you prefer to learn by listening and reflecting, that’s fine.
The attendee numbers are small (up to six people) so when we break into smaller groups there is plenty of time to talk and learn from others including over tea and cake. We frequently stop throughout the day to discuss any challenges or situations attendees face. That way, it brings the content of the Masterclass into a more relevant context.
Is there any pre-work or actions afterwards?
You’ll receive a short survey a couple of weeks before, asking three channels related questions to help us prepare and make the content as relevant and timely as possible to support you.
Louise from the team looks after everyone, ensuring you have directions to the All Things IC Hub and capturing any dietary requirements. You don’t even need to bring a laptop or notebook as we’ll give you some lovely All Things IC stationery and an All Things IC Masterclass workbook.
At the end of the day, there is time at the end to reflect on your learnings and think about what you’re taking away from the day. This doesn’t mean creating a big to-do list but taking a few moments to plan what you might do after the day.
Is there an option for communicators who can’t make it to London?
If you’re working within internal communication for the first time, our Introduction to Internal Communication Channels is available for in-house practitioners. It covers a wide range of topics to help you get started and think about how your channels can work harder for you and your colleagues. (Please note it does not include content on Microsoft 365).
We can either arrange a short call or send you a reply with our suggestions.
