Internal Comms pros invited to tune in

Happy New Year everyone, I hope the past few weeks were full of fun and you’re now raring to go for the year ahead. One of my personal highlights from 2012, apart from giving birth to my daughter, was co-founding The IC Crowd community alongside my friends and fellow in-house comms pros Jenni Wheller and Dana Leeson as a place for IC pros to connect and communicate.

Last month saw the crowd gather face-to-face for the first time following our launch at the start of September and the community is now over 1000 members strong on Twitter. If you’ve not come across it before, you’re very welcome to get involved and can read the background here.

Next week the three of us will be appearing on Simply TV to share our thoughts on the future of internal communications and will also be unveiling a secret project we’ve been planning.

Other guests on the show will be David MacLeod and Nita Clarke from Engage for Success, Suzanne Peck, president of the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC), which recently ran the 30 under 30 contest, and Michelle Morgan from VMA Group. So it looks set to be an action-packed show. If you have questions for any of the guests you’ll have the chance to ask questions by tweeting using the hashtag #simplytv on Twitter.

The show is at 1pm GMT on Friday 11 January. It is free to tune in to and you can do so by registering here.

Lots of IC pros have been in contact with me this week asking for career advice. If you are looking to change your IC career this year, you’ll find a whole list of comms recruiters, job boards and information via my Rachel’s resources page. There’s also information in this article I published recently that you may find useful. Best of luck with your decisions and I hope this year is a good one for you.
