Communications Officer (Strategy), The Scouts

Location: Gilwell Park, Chingford, London
Term: Fixed Term Contract (2 years)
Salary: £29,948 per annum (inclusive of Outer London Weighting), Band E, Level 3
Hours: 35 hours per week
Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per annum pro-rata plus bank holidays.

Core purpose:
At a time when the organisation and its members are planning for new and exciting changes as we implement 2018 Skills for Life strategy, a Communications Officer is required to lead the planning and delivery of all member communications specifically related to the changes the new strategy will bring for our organisation.

The role will need to liaise closely with the teams working on the Skills for Life programmes of work and our Project Management office to ensure all communications are well planned and joined up. You will be part of the Communications Strategy and Planning team, ensuring the strategy communications dovetails well with all ‘business as usual’ communications so there is a joined up approach. You will advise stakeholders on recommended communications plans and messaging, and then be responsible to oversee the delivery of those plans.

We are looking for:
The right candidate will have spent at least two years in a communications role, ideally in house for a large organisation. The role will need someone who is well organised and able to focus on multiple projects and priorities at one time.

They will need to be confident in forming strong working relationships with a range of people and personalities and having a positive and enthusiastic approach to work.

You will be creating the long term communications plan for delivering our Skills for Life strategy, ensuring all stakeholders can contribute to and understand the plans, while working with project management teams and communications teams to ensure content development and delivery on time.

You will have strong project management skills yourself to ensure nothing is missed, and a strategic mind that interrogates the need and outcome required from all communications and considers the impact on the audience.
