What will this role achieve?

The Internal Communications Manager will own and deliver internal communications across the organization, creating engaging and effective communications which inform and inspire colleagues.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, UK&I, the role will work closely with functions and sites across the business, with the global Corporate Affairs & Communications team and the UK Leadership team. They will attend HR meetings and also visit sites regularly to ensure we are reaching all our colleagues with relevant content.
The role would suit a self-starting, detail-orientated people’s person with a passion for storytelling, a collaborative approach and the ability to deal with multiple priorities and a wide range of stakeholders.

What will be your key deliverables?

Own the communications content calendar for UK&I, working closely with the Head of Corporate Communications UK&I, the Site Experience Manager and other key internal stakeholders.
Regularly review and manage communications channels, ensuring all content is relevant, easy to engage with and reflects pladis’ branding and tone of voice.
Plan, create, schedule and deliver a regular drumbeat of communications content and events, bringing company strategy and activity to life for colleagues in an engaging way.
Support delivery of the people strategy through clear comms around HR programmes, health and wellbeing, EVP and Inclusion and Diversity.
Showcase sustainability strategy and progress to colleagues.
Measure and report on effectiveness of communications activity and identify areas of improvement.
Work closely with key stakeholders on critical projects and campaigns – this may involve leading on an activity or contributing to initiatives with relevant comms expertise.
Branding guardian for UK&I. Owner of templates, image library and other materials – responsible for keeping these up to date and seeking opportunities to improve and expand them.
Partner with HR and Sites to manage content for key internal communication channels and platforms including digital screens, Workplace, UK&I briefings and MD events; with responsibility for ensuring content is relevant, easy to engage with and distinctive.
Lead on regional town halls/all hands meetings 3-4 times per year and deliver the region newsletter each month.
Create slide decks and other comms (e.g. videos) linked to the Managing Director’s programme of work.
Partner with Site Leadership teams and the Site Experience Team to agree the communications approach, then implement channels (both centrally and locally-owned) and content regularly that keep non-desk-based colleagues informed and engaged.
Create and deliver communications plans around pladis’ community partnerships and support with Make Happy Be Happy Day.
Bring your experience

Essential
Internal communications experience (within FMCG desirable)
Versatile copywriting skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
Creativity and imagination, but ability to prioritise, work collaboratively, respond to feedback, see the bigger picture and stay calm whilst working to time frames.
A self-starter with good organisational skills and time management.
Ability to influence and persuade senior stakeholders
Ability to multitask and work to time frames with changing priorities, tight time frames and budgets.
Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint.
Ability to travel to sites and other locations across the UK several times per year.

Desirable
Familiarity with employee communications technology e.g. Poppulo, Workplace.
