About the team

Internal Communications at GoCardless sits within the People Team and exists to:

  • Drive alignment, so everybody has a clear understanding of what the business is trying to achieve and how we each contribute
  • Build trust and advocacy at all levels
  • Foster and scale our fantastic culture, lift engagement and help to make GoCardless an awesome place to work – particularly during the times we can’t be together in person.

The role

  • You’ll take the lead on our weekly Town Hall sessions. This includes identifying and collaborating with contributors to make content clear and relevant; forward planning, so we have a clear idea of themes and messaging; being hands on so sessions run smoothly and key info/recordings are subsequently shared
  • Driving our ‘drumbeat’ of regular communications, ensuring company-wide and location-specific messaging is clear, consistent and delivered through the most relevant and impactful channel(s)
  • Devise and execute communication plans (for example, to roll out our engagement survey) which deliver clear outcomes
  • Own and develop our new engagement platform, launching in early 2021, so employees value it as their one source of ‘everything GoCardless’
  • Advise and support others around the business, helping them achieve their communications goals
  • Contribute to the overall internal communications plan and approach, ensuring what we do is impactful and positively contributes to the growth and success of GoCardless
  • Help organise and successfully deliver ‘GC Live’, our company offsites.

Desired skills

This is the role for you if you already have some experience in communications; GoCardless is a place where you can build on those foundations, make a genuine impact and – we hope – have some fun while you’re doing it.


  • Prior experience in internal communications
  • Exceptional writing ability; you’re unphased by jargon and can easily transform complexity into something compelling and easy to understand, all in our authoritative and friendly tone of voice
  • A digital mindset; you know how to get the very best out of various channels & platforms — from straightforward emails through to Slack, Zoom, intranet and more; you’re keen to explore new technologies that enhance what we do
  • You’re happy to be hands on and get things done, often having to prioritise multiple tasks at once and ultimately deliver communications to the right people, at the right time, in ways which work best for them
  • It’s beneficial if you’ve had exposure to projects like onboarding and employer brand — they’re both areas we’re keen to develop in the future.
