In this role, you will lead on change communication internally, working closely with the head of business change and head of internal communication, engaging the Met’s leaders and staff about our strategy, the Met Direction.

You will lead a campaign to engage the Met about why and how the Met is changing using a mix of storytelling, leadership coaching, online and offline channels including events for the Met’s top 120 senior leaders.

The key to success will be to ensure that the Met Direction story is consistently told at all levels across the Met, and that confidence in change, is improved.

As a leader, you will lead a team of internal communication change managers, ensuring business change and communication align and that staff understand how changes affect them personally. As a senior member of the team you will be part of a leadership community of communicators across press, marketing, internal communication and social media, ensuring the Directorate of Media and Communication is a great place to work, where feedback is valued and professional development is championed.

What’s a typical day?

You’ll work with cross-functional teams across Corporate Services including business change, Transformation, IT and HR as communication lead for change, translating the Met’s programme milestones and outcomes into an engaging narrative that captivates staff.

You’ll oversee the Met Direction communication plan, acting as the lead for the communication agency and ensuring they deliver on time and on budget. You will create high quality online and offline materials, including intranet articles, videos, briefings and events.

You’ll offer senior counsel to multiple stakeholders about change and engagement best practice and will work closely with the new local change champions working in frontline roles in policing.
