New research invites you to share how you plan your internal comms

Do you have a masterplan in place when it comes to your internal communication?

What’s your planning process like?

Today I have an invitation for you to inform global good practice by participating in some research.

Communications professionals are invited to take part in IC Plan’s Planfulness Study.

Building on last year’s research, the project aims to understand how the profession develops strategies and drive effectiveness.

Regular readers of my blog may remember this research took place last year. Once again, the software company have teamed up with consultant and writer Liam FitzPatrick to run the study.

If you haven’t read any of Liam’s books on internal communication, do look them up. They include Successful Employee Communications.

New research invites you to share how you plan your internal comms

Anyone who works in communications – external or internal – is invited to take the survey

In 2020, the research highlighted that many communicators did not have a masterplan for their function and were often driven by the need to support individual projects. Strikingly, the study also found a strong connection between teams that were effective and high levels of engagement with internal stakeholders.

Liam FitzPatrick explains: “We were doing our research in the middle of the Pandemic, when things were pretty chaotic for many people, so it will be good to see if things have settled down and how far normality is returning to the way we work as a profession.”

The researchers are keen to attract responses from around the world and across the whole range of communications disciplines. “I would love to know if we are becoming more integrated in how we approach communications” says Liam. “And I’m interested in whether different specialisms can learn from each other” he adds.

The survey is open until 31 December 2021 and participants can request a copy of the final report.

You can download the last study from the IC Plan website. Here’s the link you need to take the survey, I encourage you to have your say and will share the results once they’ve available.

I was interested to note the findings of the research earlier this year, which included the following highlights…
