I also have some discount codes to save you money off your ticket/s simply by being a reader of the All Things IC blog. Result!

Strategic Internal Communications – PRWeek

I’ve partnered with PRWeek again for its Strategic Internal Communication conference on 21 November 2017 in London. I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was one of the best conferences I’ve ever been to – and I’ve been to lots over the years.

It resonated with me because the speakers were all at a senior level and shared their struggles and successes in a candid way. It wasn’t the usual case study-led conference and was well worth investing a day of my time in.

This year’s event is at Shoreditch Courthouse and has an excellent speaker line-up including:

What to expect
The agenda is focused on “creating progressive workplaces” and key topics will include:

  • Communicating in times of transformational change and uncertainty
  • The importance of storytelling in creating a strong employer brand
  • Demonstrating value to the board through effective measurement
  • Investing in social platforms and dealing with channel overload.

It’s refreshing to see such a mix of speakers, the conference promises to be a varied and interesting one, with lots of topics communicators are grappling with at the moment.

Social media in the large enterprise – Simply-communicate

Simply-communicate’s social media in the large enterprise (SMILE) conference is on Monday 20 November 2017 in London.

Known as smilelondon, it’s packed full of speakers and ideas to help get your future digital workplace into shape.

Readers of the All Things IC blog can save a third off ticket/s using my discount code: ATIC. Simply enter the code at the checkout to save.

Simply’s Marc Wright (pictured) told me: “The UK’s leading conference on social intranets and collaborative platforms is back!
“We feature the best case studies of those organisations who are ahead of the curve – learning from their successes and the bumps they suffered along the way.”
If you have these questions, smilelondon hopes to provide the answers:
  • Are you riding the crest of the digital wave or lagging behind the workplace curve?
  • What are the mission-critical success factors?
  • Should IC run your digital workplace transformation
Marc adds: “There’s a new kid on the block – Workplace by Facebook – and it is stirring up the marketplace that has been dominated by Microsoft. We will be examining topics such as can Workplace replace your intranet? What is Microsoft doing with Yammer to match the Facebook user experience? Can you combine the power of both?”
I went to see the Workplace team last week at their London office and hear first-hand about the work they are doing with organisations. A few of my clients are now using Workplace and will be sharing their stories via my blog soon. Stay tuned.

What you’ll hear at smilelondon

Topics up for discussion include: why 80% adoption has become the new target, how bots, notifications and gamification can drive people to your intranet and how Live Video is changing the face of leadership.

Making It Count – CIPR Inside

Unfortunately the early birds have caught the worm on this year’s CIPR Inside internal communications conference tickets, as the early offers have now ended.

However, there’s a range of options to choose from depending on your role, with prices starting from £150 for students. So do take a look to make sure you save by selecting the correct ticket. There are also discounted rates for independent practitioners.

This year’s annual conference from the sector group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is on 1 November at Hilton London Wembley. It aims to help you make your internal communications count – and help you align all that you do with the CEO’s agenda.

Love that.

Chair of CIPR Inside Jenni Field @mrsjennifield (pictured) told me: “For the first time we have conducted research with CEOs across the UK to find out what they think about internal communication – what value does it bring to their organisation and what does good look like. The results have been enlightening.

“But we didn’t stop there – we have been running a survey with our members alongside this to find out what you think good looks like and what value you believe it brings. This year’s conference has been designed to answer the questions we have been asking for years and to move us forward in the discussion about how we become strategic partners to the board.”

The day will start with a keynote from the team sharing these results and all those who attend will get a copy of the report in their goody bags. Delegates will then put the findings into action supported by conference partners from Weber Shandwick, Alive with Ideas, H&H, Media Maker and Scarlett Abbott.

Jenni adds: “Our partners will work through the themes covered to support your journey to really make an impact. We will also have time for you to set part of the agenda – embracing the unconference style so that you can make sure your specific challenges are aired, shared and solved throughout the day.”

The move to the Hilton in Wembley will allow more flexibility, with breakout spaces, informal discussion areas and a sky bar for post-conference drinks.

The next one is at Ruder Finn’s offices in London: The future of work – going beyond engagement to experience. It’s happening on 28 September, 6-8pm. Tickets and full info.

Jenni adds: “There’s also a breakfast event on 19 October at The Hospital Club in London, hosted by one of our key partners for this year, Scarlettabbott. It will look at IC measurement and proving the value of IC to stakeholders.”  See full info and how to get tickets.
