We’re closing our training centre in London

Today I can share the news with you that I’ve decided not to renew the lease on the All Things IC Hub.

We will still continue to offer training, but the doors of our dedicated training centre will close at the end of October 2023.

The four-year lease is up for renewal, and I’ve chosen not to do so.

I’ve grown the business and expanded my team over the past few years and it has been a joy to host internal communicators in the space.

Regular readers will know I believe what happens inside is reflected outside; it’s become the ethos of All Things IC.

As my team and I have been marking our 10th birthday this year, it has provided an opportunity to reflect and plan the next phase of the business.

Having a London base does not reflect the reality of how we work at All Things IC, particularly as Team Teal and I advise and support internal communicators internationally.

We are a remote, but not distant team, spread throughout the UK. (I recommend reading the book of the same name: Remote not Distant by Gustavo Razzetti).

This doesn’t mean we’re stopping in-person work, we are continuing to offer this and will hire spaces wherever is required, or visit clients at their premises, as we do now.

Whether we’re at Wallacespace venues, the All Things IC Hub in London or a client’s premises, the same care and attention goes into what we do.

I intended to use the All Things IC Hub as a confidential space to help IC pros increase their skills, knowledge and confidence, and it’s done exactly that.

Seeing Comms pros working ON, not IN, their teams has been wonderful as we’ve welcomed Comms and HR practitioners for Masterclasses and Team Days.

Due to the proximity to Heathrow Airport, we’ve had international teams flying in and spending time in the All Things IC Hub.

We’ve also hosted 1-2-1 sessions, to give Comms pros a safe space to come and ask for help and create solutions to problems.

The rooms have been a nurturing place where Comms professionals have had lightbulb moments, devised strategies for their organisation and met peers. It’s also hosted confidential conversations, providing moments of clarity and the odd tear or two being shed.

If you’ve been thinking about inviting us to support your team and spending time with us at the All Things IC Hub, do get in touch as places are now extremely limited.

Turning a dream into reality

I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside thousands of IC professionals over the past seven years via in-person and online training sessions, and now my team have too.

I’ve been teaching All Things IC Masterclasses since 2016, starting off at Wallacespace venues in London. I had been manifesting the creation of a dedicated space via Pinterest for five years.

In 2019 I decided to turn that dream into reality. I sought out a location close to my home in West London, to balance family life of three young children, and running the business.

At the end of that year I signed the lease for two rooms when it was a building site! My Executive Assistant Louise Mackenney and Interior Designer Nikki Rees helped me turn that vision into how the rooms look today.

The All Things IC Hub is a stunning space filled with all things IC related, including books and resources. There are teal walls you’ll recognise if you’ve studied any of our Online Masterclasses, as they feature in the videos.

I officially opened the All Things IC Hub in January 2020. We all know what happened a few short months later!

Despite COVID-19 and the inevitable challenges and twists and turns caused by the pandemic, I pivoted the business and we’ve continued operating the Hub for internal communicators.

In May 2023 we hosted All Things IC Live, our first supersized Masterclass and Mastermind for 85 in-house IC pros, and I returned to Wallacespace.

Due to its popularity and Masterclass feedback, we know the in-person format still has a role to play in how IC pros want to learn. So, from 2024 onwards, we will build on the work we’ve done to date.

Our new Mini Masterclasses were introduced this year to allow us to advise comms friends who are further afield, offering session times that are more suited for Comms professionals in Australia, Asia and the USA. They are 90-minutes and hosted via Teams.

We have a full roster of Masterclasses in the diary. If you have been thinking about coming to the Hub, now is your last chance to save your place before the doors close at the end of October 2023.

You can use the code BIRTHDAYTREAT at the checkout to save 10% off our Mini Masterclasses and in-person and Online Masterclasses if you book before 31 December 2023.

We have three spaces for Team Days between now and the end of October, please get in touch if you’d like to explore this with us.

Upcoming in-person Masterclasses at the All Things IC Hub include:

If a date is full, please contact us to be added to the wait list.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the Hub over the past four years and thank you to the teams who we will be working with over the next few months.

As I prepare to close the doors on the site, I’m proud its creation provided support for internal communicators in such unprecedented times.

Our training, consulting and mentoring work will continue. I’m excited to be planning for 2024 and all the future opportunities ahead to advise IC professionals and their organisations.

I already have a home in mind for that gorgeous teal velvet sofa…
